Misinformation and the Media: Misinformation and the Media Library Course

Delta Library’s Misinformation and the Media course introduces your students to Misinformation and Disinformation and how it relates to the Media. It provides tips on how to be responsible social media users and where to find high-quality news sources.  This course can be presented as an in-person presentation and is also available as an asynchronous eLearning module.

• Why does it seem like Misinformation is everywhere right now?
• What is a low-choice media system vs. a high-choice media system?
• How has social media changed our media landscape?
• What is bias and confirmation bias?
• What is a filter bubble? How is it harmful?
• What is the Attention Economy? How can it be harmful to society?
• How do we become aware of our own bias?
• How do we be responsible social media users?
• Why should we fact check and how do we do it?
• How can you access high-quality news sources through the Delta Library?
