Scholarships

According to a recent Sallie Mae/Ipsos College Confidence 2022 survey, almost half (46%) of those high school families surveyed thought that scholarships were only for exceptional students. However, there are a wide variety of scholarships available, including those for community service, underrepresented groups, professional societies, and foundations. 

• Start local - check with your high school counselor for information on local scholarships
• Fill out your FAFSA form - required for some need-based scholarships
• Use Scholarship Books on this guide to locate scholarships - books show scholarships indexed by topic so you can browse through lists of scholarships of interest
• Use Scholarship Websites on this guide to locate scholarships - some sites are browsable and some allow you to see lists of scholarships based on your interests
• Set up a dedicated scholarship email account so important communications won't get lost or mixed in with personal email
• Never pay fees to apply for a scholarship or scholarship search service
