Services for Faculty
The library and library staff are here to help you and your students succeed in their educational journey. The following services are available to faculty. Have an idea not listed?Let us know and we'll see what we can do!
Library Instruction (online)
Library Instruction is available via eLearning for online sections of ENG 111, 112, 113, COM 112, OAT 151, HIS 111 and 112, HIS 221 and 222, NUR 101 and POL 105. Librarians can also create new online courses for any class not listed. Visit the library instruction page for more information and to access forms for scheduling online library instruction.
Interactive Learning Tools (online)
Are you looking for active learning tools for your students in an online environment? The library can create short, student-centered active learning tools to support information literacy! The library uses LibWizard, a Springshare software, to create interactive tutorials on many topics including evaluating information, database searching and even tours and scavenger hunts. We can create custom learning tools for your students that can easily be linked or embedded in your eLearning course shell. Students can generate a 'certificate of completion' upon completion of the course so that it may be assigned for credit or extra credit. Contact your subject liaison or the library for more information!
Invite a Librarian to work with students on the best ways to evaluate and research information for their papers and projects. Visit the library instruction page for information and details on scheduling F2F instruction and to complete the appropriate library instruction request form.
Librarians can create subject and course specific research guides for your classes. Research Guides can bring together information, resources and links to recommended material for the research process including recommended books, ebooks, databases, websites and citation help. A friendly URL is made available to you that you can share with your students and embed in your eLearning content. Contact your subject liaison if you are interested in a custom research guide.
Place course textbooks, required and optional reading text, articles and other media on reserve in the Library. Typically, material is available for 4-hour in library use with a student ID. Fill out a Course Reserves form and bring your items to the Circulation Desk to put them on Reserve. Learn more about Course Reserves on the Library Collections page.
Linking to Library Resources
You can link to articles, databases, videos and more available through Library databases by creating a special link, called a permalink, that is accessible by students, faculty and staff from on or off campus (using your Delta login credentials). You can't just copy and paste the browser URL. Learn more on the Linking to Library Resources guide (coming soon) or contact the Library.
Open Educational Resources (OER)
The library supports the discovery and use of Open Educational Resources. Visit our Open Educational Resources website for more information about using OER materials in your class.
Request to borrow material from other libraries. It's Free! Interlibrary Loan is available when the Delta College Library collection does not offer the material you need. You can request books, articles, or other materials.
Interlibrary Loan is available to Delta college faculty, staff, and students. Michigan residents not affiliated with Delta college may also use our interlibrary loan services. Patrons younger than 16 must have a parent or guardian initiate the interlibrary loan request.
All materials must be picked up and returned to the Delta College Library. Librarians reserve the right to determine how many items can be borrowed in totality. Materials belonging to other libraries cannot be placed on reserve.
Every attempt will be made to get the items you request. You will be notified if we are unable to obtain the items. Late, damaged, or lost material will result in fines and/or payment of the item. No replacement copy will be accepted.
The area outside of A-125 is designated the pop-up classroom. It can be reserved by faculty for use with classes. When the space is not reserved it can be used as an open study area.
Your discipline has a Librarian who specializes in ordering library resources and conducting research for that area. Contact your subject liaison for help using and acquiring library resources, creating research guides or if you have questions about library instruction or incorporating library resources into your class assignments and projects. Visit the Subject Liaisons page to find your subject librarian.
