Library Research for COM 108introduces students to basic library and research skills they need to complete assignments in Communications 112 and takes about 45 minutes to complete. Library Research for COM 112 students covers most of the same topics, but goes into more detail and takes about an hour to complete.
This course covers the following topics:
Why we need to use quality sources
Source types and the information timeline
Evaluating web sources with C.R.A.P.
Using library databases with OneSearch
Developing an idea into a researchable topic with preliminary research.
Assign a Library Research Appointment to students who aren't finding the quality resources they need to succeed in your class. Students make an appointment, and meet with a librarian in an individual or small group session for personalized research help.
