English 112/113 Course Description

Delta Library’s English 112/113 library research course develops advanced research skills students need and takes about 45 minutes to complete in the D2L asynchronous course. In-person sessions are also available.

This course covers the following topics: 

  • Using keywords review 
  • Academic resources vs. Popular resources review 
  • What is peer review and how do I find articles from peer-reviewed journals 
  • Advanced database searching using OneSearch 
  • Using a complex Boolean search string 
  • Using limits in databases – advanced techniques 
  • Using citation information in databases 
  • Using interlibrary loan 
  • Using Google Scholar 
  • Using database document tools – advanced techniques 
  • Accessing library resources on the Delta Library homepage and getting help from a librarian.
