World hunger, what is it? It's something that effects everybody. There's a saying but i'm not sure where it started, but it goes "We are 3 meals away from anarchy". I find this statement to be especially true, it's just not something most people think about because they know where their next meal is coming from. Not everybody in the world has that knowledge. And it's starting to get closer to home. Climate change is a huge reason our food supply is getting smaller. The biggest question I have personally is can world hunger be solved? I think it can .In 7 Ways We Can Help End Hunger Once and for All This World Food Day Author Joe Mcarthy quoted the United Nations with "By aiming for better production, better nutrition, a better environment, and a better life, we can transform agrifood systems and build forward better by implementing sustainable and holistic solutions that consider development in the long term, inclusive economic growth, and greater resilience." www.globalcitizen.org/en/content/world-food-day-end-hunger-crisis/.
World hungers solutions are among us. It could be solved seemingly easily but it always sounds easier on paper. We might think that it's just money or it's not much compared to what's at stake but it can be difficult to gather the large amount it would take and then to make sure that everybody got their fair share. So instead unfortunately for now people are still starving. Adkins, Michael in The Global Food Security Act: America's Strategic Approach to Combating World Hunger states. “The worlds farms produce enough food to feed everyone on the planet, yet around 815 millions people are malnourished. And 1 in 10 people are undernourished." www.scholarworks.uark.edu/jflp/vol14/iss2/4/.
The price to pay for the solution to world hunger isn't as much as people may assume. According to Oxfam and their article How much money would it take to end world hunger. "Current estimates suggest that as of this year, we need donor governments to invest around $37 billion every year until 2030 to tackle both extreme and chronic hunger." www.oxfamamerica.org/explore/stories/how-much-money-would-it-take-to-end-world-hunger/ And that amount of money could either go up or down depending on several issues. Climate change being a key factor, but also peoples need. The poplulation grows every day and will continue to do so. That means more mouths to feed and more money to feed them.
Other ways to help save people from starving are helping local farmers expand their crop and reach. A diverse range of crop and animals may be something that solves the problems of climate issues creating a resource reductions. Also recycling and wasting food is a huge issue. Climate change is increased by pollution which increases the lack of food supply. Lack of food can create many problems besides just hunger, it may even lead to societal conflict. Everybody working together is our best way to fight the problem. Michel Adkins stated in The Global Food Security Act: America's Strategic Approach to Combating World Hunger “At the World Food Congress in 1963, President John F. Kennedy articulated a vision to eliminate world hunger. Clearly, the goal he set forth has yet to materialize. Hunger, famine, drought, regional instability, and resource driven military conflict remain pervasive in a world whose population is projected to reach 9 billion by 2050”
