Poverty is hunger, poverty is lack of shelter. The true definition, "the state of being extremely poor." including not having food or clothes. A main cause of poverty is lack of work, and rising living costs. Poverty also has many negative effects which include increased risk for mental illness, chronic disease, and lower life expectancy. Children are at higher risk for living in poverty and dealing with the effects.

Children are more than twice as likely to live in poverty than adults, averaging almost 356 million children forced to survive on less than $1.90 a day. 
One of the most straightforward ways to help fight poverty in your community is to donate funds or essentials to organizations whose mission is to end disparities.
